Trip 3: Donor Experience Trip

Note this is a special trip exclusively for current and future Guinea Exchange Donors & Volunteers

February 8 - 28, 2018

Guinea Exchange partners with One World Dance & Drum to offer this very special invitation-only "Donor Experience Trip.” Join us for this rare opportunity to connect deeply with the people of Guinea, specifically catered for donors and volunteers of  Guinea Exchange.

On this special trip, customized for donors and volunteers of Guinea Exchange, we will delve deeper into the culture than ever before. We will begin our trip spending 3 days settling into the culture and hospitality with our Mansare family hosts in Tomboliya. There we will share, their home, language, food, and beautiful loving culture. From this home base in the suburb of Conakry, we will visit the on sight sewing school, the academic students’ elementary school and shop at the must see Medina market, participating in drum, dance, language and song classes throughout the day.

Next, we will venture eastward into the heart of Guinea, the land of the ancient and rich traditions of the Manden Empire. In the remote village of Dembayara, we will sleep in traditional mud huts while exploring the local school, community farm and touring the Dembayara clinic. Our guides and translators will educate us about the challenges and needs facing Dembayara and surrounding villages as well as the successes of the Guinea Exchange Bakery. The highlight for this inland journey will be our traditional drum and dance celebration in honor of the partnership project between the village of Dembayara and the new Guinea Exchange Bakery.

Throughout this trip you will enjoy the rich learning that comes with community living. This trip will open your eyes and your heart with cultural immersion!
