West African Dance



Move your body to grooves from Guinea, West Africa with Sarah Lee and Mamady Mansare. Great teaching, interesting choreography and a nurturing environment make these very fun and inviting classes!

All levels classes with Sarah Lee & Mamady

These classes are both a great introduction to West African Dance, AND a great place to expand into intermediate/advanced level dancing. You will learn posture, technique, movement vocabulary and steps, all to live infectious music provided by the One World Dance Band.

Dance class with Sarah LeeSarah Lee & Mamady teach a variety of traditional dances from Guinea West Africa and you will find yourself enjoying the movements of these dances, as well as the workout it gives you. With their friendly "show and go" style of teaching, you will develop the strength, fitness and coordination needed to move and express yourself through these amazing and joyous African dances. You will learn the movement vocabulary and rhythms that make up this beautiful art form and meet great like-minded people. Come out and give it a try, you will LOVE IT!

Thursday classes are held at Balance Studio, in the FREMONT neighborhood of Seattle:

(just east of the intersection of 35th & Phinney, across from Theo's Chocolate Factory)

All Monday and Thursday weekly classes are 'drop in' and need no preregistration. While both Monday and Thursday classes are open to all levels, Thursday's class tends to move at a more accelerated pace. Come try each night and find out which works best for you!

While Sarah Lee is in Guinea this winter, she has lined up some fabulous substitute teachers to teach these weekly classes for you!

*MONDAYS: Nailah Harris will be teaching Monday night classes starting Monday December 4 through March 26, 2018.

**THURSDAYS: Frank Anderson will be teaching Thursday classes starting December 7 through March 22, 2018, except for February 8 and 15, where Sekou Soumah will be teaching.

It is an honor to be able to learn from these teachers, please plan on coming out and dancing with them each week!
